Gunshot Detection System Tests in Colorado Springs

A new Gunshot Detection System was tested on Tuesday in some southeastern Colorado Springs neighborhoods.

Sensors with smart microphones can send an alert to CSPD over cell phone networks whenever a gun is fired in that vicinity.

The Valley Hi, Park Hill and Pikes Peak Park neighborhoods near Fountain and Chelton were chosen because those areas have a higher volume of shootings compared to the rest of the city.
