Former El Paso County Undersheriff Joe Briester has a new job with the Manitou Springs Police Department.
Briester will be Manitou Springs’ interim police chief, taking over for Joe Ribeiro, who stepped down at the end of May after 36-years in law enforcement.
The Manitou Springs City Council appointed Breister as interim chief through the end of August, although that could be extended depending on how long it takes to select a permanent chief.
Briester will reportedly not seek the permanent position.
