El Paso County Authorities Investigating Bullets Found at Falcon Elementary School

Authorities in El Paso County are trying to determine why a first grader at Falcon Elementary School showed up to school with bullets and a handgun in their backpack Thursday morning.

After the child arrived at the school, they showed a staff member the ammunition and the employee immediately contacted the sheriff’s office and D-49 safety and security.

The student was removed from class and they found the weapon when they were looking in the child’s backpack.

The handgun had a round from a different caliber handgun in the chamber.

It’s not believed the student meant anyone any harm and now the sheriff’s office is working to learn how the first grader obtained the weapon.
