U.S. Attorney Announces 68 Federal Count Indictment Against Robert Dear

Federal charges are being filed against the man accused of the 2015 killing three people at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood Clinic.

The U.S. Attorney’s office announced the 68-count indictment against Robert Dear Monday.

Federal prosecutors say they decided to file charges because the statute of limitations was expected to expire.

The state court has ruled dear incompetent to stand trial and he was being held at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo.

The Fourth Judicial District attorney’s office in El Paso County says they support the federal case against the 61-year-old and hope it will make sure victims of the attack know the case will never been forgotten.

Dear appeared in federal court in Denver.

He’s scheduled to appear in state court next month.
