Documents filed by federal prosecutors explain why they’re seeking a new competency evaluation for accused Planned Parenthood Clinic shooter Robert Dear.
The paperwork filed earlier this month, shows the U.S. Attorney’s Office believes Dear’s mental evaluation is outdated.
They also believe the diagnosis of Dear’s incompetence is based mostly on the suspect’s refusal to participate in the evaluation process.
Dear’s attorneys have received an extension from a federal magistrate in order to file their objections to the request for a new competency exam.
