If you happen to get a phone call or text from someone to claiming to be with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, threatening legal action if you don’t pay for something or return their calls, just hang up.
The scammers are even using actual employee names at the sheriff’s office.
Officials say they’ll never call or send texts to inform people they have an active warrant, missed court, or any other legal action.
