COLORADO SPRINGS -Colorado Parks and Wildlife is seeking help to try to control the spread of a disease that is deadly to rabbits. Roughly 20-feral rabbits were found dead from Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease earlier this month in the Calhan area. The disease is a danger both to wild rabbits and their domestic cousins. Anyone who finds any groups of dead rabbits is being asked to call the Colorado Springs CPW office. On top of that, a third skunk was recently confirmed to have rabies in the county. Public health officials are urging residents to protect themselves by keeping their pets up to date on rabies vaccinations and making sure never to touch or feed wild or stray animals.
