Three employees at local Goodwill store test positive for Covid-19

COLORADO SPRINGS – If you recently visited the Goodwill store on Austin Bluffs east of Academy Blvd, you may have been exposed to the Coronavirus. The El Paso County Public Health said Sunday night that three employees at the store tested positive for COVID-19.

Since reopening on May 1st, all Goodwill employees have followed “Safer at Home” guidelines from Governor Polis and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. That includes daily temperature checks and health screenings before each shift, and frequently disinfecting high-touch and high traffic areas, as well as social distancing and other preventative measures.

This is considered an outbreak, which is defined as two or more confirmed cases within 14 days. Goodwill is working with El Paso County Public Health to investigate and Goodwill has also temporarily closed the store and donation center.

The store will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected while it’s closed. A reopening date has not yet been determined.

Public Health is notifying anyone who may have been at this location starting on May 9th, and will release additional details as they become available.
