Police reform bill rapidly moving through the Colorado Senate

DENVER – A a bill designed to reform law enforcement practices across the state of Colorado is moving very quickly through the state Senate.  Senate Bill-217 received initial approval Monday and it could very well pass on it’s second vote later today.

The bill would ban the use of chokeholds by law enforcement officials, enact new body camera rules and allow victims of police violence to sue individual officers for damages.  It means that moving forward, officers would only be allowed to use force when all other means of ending a confrontation were explored.
