Shooting ruled justified

A Colorado Springs Police officer will not face charges in connection with a deadly shooting that happened while he was off-duty.  The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s office announced Wednesday, Officer Lucas Aragon acted in self-defense when he shot and killed Desmond Hayes February 27th.  The investigation determined Hayes had jumped into the back of Aragon’s car at a fast food drive-thru.  He reportedly told the off-duty officer to drive him to another location or he would be hurt.  Thinking Hayes had a gun, Aragon shot the suspect nine times.  The DA’s office said Aragon had a reasonable fear for his life and that the shooting was justified.
