COLORADO SPRINGS – You may see a fee for those plastic grocery store bags soon. A virtual town hall is being held for the public to discuss a potential ballot measure to start charging plastic bag fees at grocery stores in colorado springs. City council member Yolanda Avila is proposing the fee.
If approved, you’ll pay an extra ten-cents per bag at the store. The city would see 60-percent of the money and the business that you’re shopping at would keep the other 40-percent. according to Avila’s proposal, the city would use the money for cleaning up projects in Colorado Springs. The meeting takes place online from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on July 29th.
