One person killed and two others injured in auto-pedestrian accidents in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS – It was a bad night for people walking on Colorado Springs streets Monday night. The first person was hit by a vehicle at S. Nevada and Las Vegas at about 8:00 p.m. and they suffered serious injuries. The driver left the scene at one point, but they did return to speak with CSPD about the accident. Northbound Nevada was closed at Mill Street for an hour and a half while the accident was investigated.

Roughly two hours later, another person was hit at Circle Drive and Galley Rd. at about 10:00 p.m. the victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved did not stay on the scene and as of this morning, police have not released any details on the car involved. Lanes in the area weren’t reopened until 1:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The last person hit was a man crossing the street on Garden of the Gods Rd. east of I-25 at 11:30 p.m. The driver contacted 911 about the crash. According to police, the man was not in a crosswalk and the driver didn’t see him. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The woman driving the car was transported to a local hospital for injuries.
