FOUNTAIN – A 12-year-old girl is dead and an investigation is underway this morning. Fountain police went to the home in the 6800 block of Kasson Drive at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday night. After arriving, they found the girl had a gunshot wound to her face. Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures and those efforts failed.
According to the Fountain police, an off-duty El Paso County Sheriff’s deputy who lives nearby attempted to help while they waited for help. Exactly who fired the shot and what led up to the shooting has not been released. The investigation into the shooting continues this morning.
