COLORADO SPRINGS – As of 4:00 p.m. on Sunday July 26th, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is reporting 44,336 known, cumulative cases of COVID-19 across the state, with another 97-cases being considered “presumptive positive.”
While we’re seeing an uptick in cases and hospitalizations, we’re not seeingĀ a substantial increase in deaths.
Officials say they’re concerned about hospitals exceeding their capacity for intensive care by September if the hospitalizations continue to follow the current path. Currently, 241-people are hospitalized and while that number is still lower than it was in April and May, the numbers are climbing. The age range for infections has changed in the past couple of months as well, with the largest group affected being between the ages of 20-and-29. They’re followed by people aged 30-to-39, and then those in their 40’s. The death rate from the virus remains the highest in older age ranges.
