COLORADO SPRINGS – A moratorium on evictions is going into effect on Friday. The Trump administration announced this week that the centers for disease control will use their authority to protect public health by putting a temporary ban on evictions through the end of 2020.
The CDC says evictions can lead to homelessness or crowded living situations, which can further spread the coronavirus. That doesn’t mean people are off the hook for their rent payments though. All of the back rent will be due once the moratorium is lifted.
The moratorium would only apply to people making $99,000 a year or less. The annual salary for a couple increases the threshold to $198,000. If you’re in Colorado Springs, you can call 211 for assistance and if you’re facing eviction or foreclosure, you can click here for help and extra resources
