(Cameron Peak Fire)

LARIMER COUNTY – Fire crews battling The Cameron Peak Fire in western Larimer County are making progress in containing the wildfire that’s been burning for over a month. They’ve now gained about 8% containment in the last couple of days.
They’ve been able to slow the growth of the fire with some help from last week’s snowstorm. Officials say they’re a bit concerned about another dry spell and how it could affect their efforts. So far, over 102-thousand acres have been scorched since the fire began west of Chambers Lake on August 13th.
A voluntary evacuation for Glacier View has been lifted. The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests have closures in place due to the fire and Rocky Mountain National Park also has numerous closures involving specific areas and trails in the park.
