COLORADO SPRINGS – Grab those quarters and make sure to have change available in your car soon if you’re headed to downtown Colorado Springs. Hundreds of new parking meters are being installed in areas where parking had previously been free.

The city is replacing many of the old meters and new smart meters are being put in their place. City crews are also adding about 350-meters in places they’ve never been before near the new U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum and on the west side of downtown.

The project is costing the city one-point-eight million dollars.
