A Monday morning update on the Cameron Peak and Mullen wildfires

(The Cameron Peak Fire)

LARIMER COUNTY – Weather over the weekend helped out firefighters considerably with The Cameron Peak Fire and they were able to gain 42% containment of the wildfire. Roughly 126,164 acres have been scorched and some 95-buildings have been destroyed.

Weather won’t be as cooperative today in the region. A Red Flag Warning is in effect in the form of a mountain wave event, Winds gusts may reach 40-50mph across ridge tops and mountain slopes, so that means fire activity may change and increase as the weather passes through the area.

(The Mullen Fire)

The Mullen Fire  is now larger than The Cameron Peak Fire. It surpassed 147,000 acres over the weekend and it continues to burn through everything in its path. The wildfire has scorched 29-homes and 31-other buildings.

1104-firefighters are working on the massive blaze. High winds and weather conditions will cause more issues for fire crews Monday.
