COLORADO SPRINGS – A tragic story is unfolding in Colorado Springs after an elderly couple was found shot to death near Monument Creek, just off the Santa Fe Trail on Saturday morning. Lee and Stella Vigil were reported as missing on Friday night after they didn’t return from a hike.
El Paso County Search and Rescue crews found their vehicle at the Edmundson trailhead, on East Woodmen Road and their bodies were found at about 12:25 p.m. Details on the couple’s deaths may become clearer once the El Paso County Coroner’s Office completes their autopsies. for now, CSPD says there is no threat to the community and that they are not looking for any suspects in the case.
