Millions of people flew for the Christmas holiday amid the pandemic

COLORADO – Holiday passenger traffic at Denver International Airport is substantially less this year when compared to last year. Just over 34-thousand travelers used DIA on Saturday, the day after Christmas. Last year, more than  110-thousand passengers used the airport on the same day.

Officials at DIA expected Sunday to be the busiest day of the holiday weekend, but they still only expected around 40-thousand travelers to use the airport. It appears millions of Americans flew to destinations over the Christmas weekend. The TSA is reporting the two highest numbers of passengers screened during the pandemic on either side of December 25th. More than 1.19 million people flew on December 23rd, and 1.28 million on Sunday.
