PUEBLO – The jury has returned a verdict in the Donthe Lucas murder trial and Lucas is found guilty of 1st-degree murder in connection to the death of Kelsie Schelling. On Monday, the defense did not call any witnesses and argued the case was the biggest stretch in Colorado’s history because a body has never been found. Meanwhile, prosecutors delivered their closing arguments stating all the evidence shows Lucas killed Schelling. The jury deliberated for a few hours before reaching their verdict, which was delivered just after 4 p.m. Lucas is facing a minimum of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Twenty-one-year-old Schelling disappeared in 2013 and has not been seen since; she was 8 weeks pregnant at the time.
