One dead-two missing after flooding in northern Colorado

LARIMER COUNTY – One person is dead and a massive search is underway for two missing people after a flash flood in northern Colorado Tuesday. Officials in Larimer County say emergency evacuations were issued along Highway 14 between Rustic and Ted’s Place because of flooding in Poudre Canyon.

as of Wednesday morning, the evacuation order has been lifted. The local utility says mudslides took down power lines and washed out bridges, making it difficult to assess the damage. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office says the body of one person has been recovered, and they’re searching for two others.

The National Weather Service in Boulder says the area saw an inch of rain in an area severely damaged by a major wildfire last year and that makes it prone to mudslides. A new Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for the Cameron Peak and Troublesome burn areas from noon to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night.
