Colorado hospitals are almost at their capacity for COVID-19 patients, and state officials are concenred about the low number of hospital beds. State leaders are trying to add 500 new hospital beds across Colorado. One of the main challenges is figuring out which hospitals have space, but don’t have enough staff to take on more patients. The state plans to send federal and local medical teams to these under-staffed facilities to immediately open more beds. Officials are hoping to have a plan in place by mid-December.
