Springs detectives say that rumors could be partly to blame for the alleged threats against Chinook Trail Middle School. After an investigation, officers discovered rumors were spreading fast about the attacks on social media, but no one could show police an actual threat. Officers saw incorrect information being shared online. One was a picture of a student with a knife. Police say the picture was taken months ago and not at the school. However, so many people shared the photo on social media, some believed they were new and part of the threat. The Colorado Springs Police Department is asking the public to not share rumors, and if anyone has concerns to contact them directly.
