The latest on the sewage spill affecting the Arkansas River. Colorado Parks and Wildlife has extended their water contact advisory to 10 state wildlife areas downstream. More than 4 million gallons of sewage went into the Arkansas last week in Pueblo. Among the wildlife areas now being ordered to keep people out of the water include Melon Valley, Rocky Ford, Oxbow, Fort Lyon, Purgatoire, Granada, Deadman, Midwestern and Holly state wildlife areas. The advisory is also for the Las Animas Fish Hatchery and the John Martin Reservoir. People are told to have no contact with the water and to keep pets away. E coli levels are 24 times above normal in recent readings.
