Colorado Springs City Council approved the sale of the former Meadows Park Community Center Tuesday to C-R-E Holdings for 700 thousand dollars. The community center was a casualty of a 30 million dollar budget shortfall last year in the city budget. Citizens were outraged the city decided to close it, citing its affordable childcare center as an important resource for families. City Council members said it cost 7 hundred thousand dollars a year to operate, and it needed upkeep and restoration that would have cost 1 million dollars. The new owners are planning to convert it into a new childcare center.
