VIDEO: Sinkhole on Chestnut Street gets worse, contractor called in to evaluate

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – A massive sink hole in Colorado Springs, along Chestnut Street, continues to get worse.

It’s at least 45 feet deep and three traffic lanes wide. The culvert underneath the road gave way Monday, a result of old infrastructure and extreme weather.

It could take up to 3 weeks to fix, and Chestnut remains shutdown from Vondelpark to Elston.

The city has hired a contractor to start going over their options, but the hole is too unstable for them to evaluate right now.
