BLACK FOREST, CO – The annual Black Forest Festival over the weekend was a big success this year, drawing in thousands of people to celebrate their community, and dedicate the new Black Forest Fire Memorial at Log School Park.
Congressman Doug Lamborn and other leaders from El Paso County also came out to show their support for Black Forest and join in the dedication of the memorial.
There was a moment of silence for Marc and Robin Herklotz, who lost their lives two years ago in the Black Forest Fire.
The memorial honors the Herklotz’s, tells the story of the fire, and thanks first responders and volunteers.
