The El Paso County Sheriff’s department is continuing to investigate a Saturday incident where a man shot and killed one of the departments canine deputies. A man in the 8900 block of Royal Melbourne Circle said a K-9 officer identified as k-9 Styx attacked his dog and also bit him. The canine deputy was shot and died at a veterinary hospital. K-9 Styx was off duty at the time. The man was treated for injuries. No other details have been released by the sheriff’s department.
