EL PASO COUNTY – Just after 11 p.m. Saturday night, El Paso County Sheriff Deputies arrived to the 4900 block of Brant Road in the Security area

“The reporting party stated that they heard shots fired, a female victim was taken to the hospital,” said Sheriff Information Officer Jacqueline Kirby.

The victim later died, authorities began searching for two suspects, brothers Demetrius and Daniel Moore.

The brothers separated, one was taken into custody without incident, the other was in a vehicle at Boulder and Union. “This was far from routine, this was tactical. Making a traffic stop on a wanted felon,” said Lt. Howard Black from CSPD.

Springs Police and deputies moved in on the vehicle. Police say the suspect fired at least one shot, then both police and deputies returned fire killing the suspect.

Both Moore brothers have multiple run-ins with the law. In 2015 Demetrius Moore was sentenced to three months in jail and three months of probation for a menacing charge.

In 2004 Daniel Moore was sentenced to eight and a half years behind bars for a weapons charge.

A quick inmate search shows a Daniel Lee Moore fitting the description of one of the Moore brothers. That person is in custody on a $100,000 bail, set to appear in court Monday.

A deadly force investigation team is looking into the fatal officer involved shooting. That team consists of members from Colorado Springs Police, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, and the District Attorney’s office. Both agencies will investigate the other because it is still undetermined who fired the lethal round.

A GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/goodbyetoanangel)  was started in the name of Alicia Christmas to help raise money for funeral expenses.

The page indicates Alicia was killed by her husband while she was trying to protect her children. She leaves behind four children and one grandchild with another on the way.

A relative named Nate emailed News 5 with a family statement:

We are in shock and disbelief at the horrific events that took place today. We are extremely grateful for all of the love and support that has flooded in from friends and strangers alike and ask that the family be given the privacy and respect to mourn our loved one.

County marriage records indicate Alicia was married to Demetrius Moore.
