COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -Two dogs are safe and warm after the Colorado Springs Fire Department rescued them from Prospect Lake on Saturday.
The dogs were about 50-feet from the shore when they broke through the thin ice. A person walking by noticed the animals and contacted authorities.
Crews had to wear ice rescue suits to get to the dogs. Their owner isn’t known and the dogs were turned over to the humane society.
The fire department is reminding owners to use a leash when walking around a lake.
