FOUNTAIN, CO – Voluntary water restrictions start today in Fountain.
Residents are being asked to conserve water while they work on mandatory water restrictions that will likely take effect later this summer.
Fountain continues to battle the presence of toxic chemicals in the Widefield Aquifer, which is a key source of water for the community.
The chemicals have been used for decades in firefighting foam at nearby Peterson Air Force Base.
They have been linked to certain cancers, low birth weight and high cholesterol.
The watering restrictions will continue through September.
