Colorado Springs firefighters are getting behind a city initiative that would resume charging local residents a fee to go toward stormwater projects

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Colorado Springs firefighters are getting behind a city initiative that would resume charging local residents a fee to go toward stormwater projects.

The local firefighter’s union issued an endorsement of issue 2A on Wednesday.

If voters approve the measure, property owners will be charged a monthly fee that is expected to raise $17 million a year for stormwater projects.

Mayor Suthers and other city leaders have strongly supported the initiative as a way to pay for those projects without using money from the city’s general fund.
