El Paso County Deputy Shot

An El Paso County Deputy is expected to make a full recovery after being injured in a shooting Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Jeremy Juhl, a member of the swat-team, was shot after responding to reports of heavily armed men on Loop Road in the southern part of the county.

When authorities arrived, they were reportedly fired at, and the suspect was shot dead. Deputy Juhl sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives say the deceased suspect was possibly linked to a deadly shooting on Highway-94, East of Colorado Springs earlier in the day.

That victim was likely tied to an illegal marijuana operation robbery. One other person sustained critical wounds in that incident.

Sheriff Bill Elder said there is no longer a threat to the community.
