Body camera footage of a deadly officer involved shooting in Aurora will not be immediately released to the public.
On Monday Aurora PD responded to a home invasion and fatally shot an armed resident identified as 73-year old Gary Black Junior.
Officers say Black shot and killed the intruder after the suspect dragged Black’s 11-year-old grandson into the bathroom.
Black emerged from his house with a firearm and ignored commands to drop his gun, and that’s when he was killed by police.
Aurora chief Nick Metz said Black saved his family that night and that his staff is “heartbroken over the incident.”
