Electrical Transformer Being Delivered Monday Night to Springs Utilities Substation

The transfer of a 250,000 pound electrical transformer has been delayed.

It was supposed to happen Sunday night, but instead, will take place Monday evening.

It will begin its journey near Drennan and Astrozon.

A 96-wheel trailer will carry the transformer to the Colorado Springs Utilities’ Cottonwood substation, north of Woodmen and Stinson.

The $2 million new transformer will replace the 45-year-old one currently in use.
