Entire City Block Destroyed By Fire in Moffat

A lack of water is being blamed for the fiery destruction of part of a town in Saguache County.

Officials in Moffat say firefighters ran out of water while fighting a fire Tuesday afternoon.

There are no fire hydrants in the town, which is located about 40 miles north of Alamosa.

An area the size of a city block was destroyed, including what locals said was the first building ever built in the town.
