Colorado Springs Police say they will pursue appropriate charges against a daycare center owner who allegedly hid children behind a false wall in her home.
Officers were doing a welfare check Wednesday at Play Mountain Place on Williamette Avenue over complaints that the business was caring for too many children.
Investigators say the owner did not cooperate with officers, who could hear children playing but could not find them.
Officers eventually found what they called a false wall that led to the basement, where they discovered two adults and 26 children.
The Colorado Department of Human Services is in the process of canceling the daycare’s license.
