Springs shooting justified

The District Attorney’s office has cleared 4 Colorado Springs Police officers in a shooting that killed a Fort Carson Soldier in April. Police were called to a domestic disturbance in the 3200 block of Oak Creek Drive. The suspect, 28 year old Sergeant Virgil Thorpe was outside when police arrived, but ran inside his home and got a gun. He was in his basement and officers could see the weapon as Thorpe pointed it at police. Thorpe fired at least 1 shot and officers fired back. Thorpe was hit and died at a hospital. The DA’s office ruled the shooting justified.
