El Paso County jail reporting first inmate case of Covid-19

COLORADO SPRINGS – A total of eight inmates are being quarantined after a man tested positive for the coronavirus. According to officials, an inmate was transferred from Florida and was tested for the virus when he arrived at the county jail. His test results weren’t back yet when he made his first court appearance on Wednesday. He and seven other inmates rode together in a van to make their court appearances.

A public defender is also self-isolating after being exposed to the inmate. It’s the first known case of Covid-19 for an inmate at the jail.
