COLORADO SPRINGS – A person crossing Garden of the Gods Rd. at Chestnut is dead after they were hit by a car Monday night at about 7:40 p.m. They were taken to an area hospital where they later died from their injuries.
The driver, 66-year old Robert Bland, was taken into custody following the accident. Police believe Bland was driving under the influence and he also faces Vehicular Homicide charges. The roadway is open again Tuesday morning, but it was closed for several hours for the investigation.
