COLORADO – Firefighting efforts since August has become very costly. A federal agency says the cost to fight several major wildfires in the state has now reached about 77-million-dollars, so far and we’re not out of the woods yet, so to speak.

The Pine Gulch Fire burning outside of Grand Junction tops the list at 28-million-dollars. The Grizzly Creek Fire near Glenwood Springs isn’t far behind at 25.5-million dollars. The Cameron Peak Fire west of Chambers Lake in western Larimer County has a cost of over 16-million.

Those costs include aircraft, equipment, fire crews, and management expenses.
