COLORADO SPRINGS – The El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsies of an elderly couple whose bodies were found near the Edmundson trailhead in Colorado Springs on Saturday, October 3rd. The couple is identified as 72-year-old Stella Vigil and 73-year-old Leroy Vigil of New Mexico.
The Vigil’s were reported as missing and police and El Paso County Search and Rescue found the bodies of the couple with apparent gunshot wounds, adjacent to Fountain Creek, just off of the Santa Fe Trail.
According to CSPD, Mr. Vigil’s death was ruled as a suicide, and Mrs. Vigil’s death has been ruled a homicide. Police said that through the course of their investigation, detectives obtained evidence that supported an agreement between Mr. and Mrs. Vigil to end their lives together.
