COLORADO SPRINGS – we’re waking up to a snowy morning and it’s definitely making things much harder on the roads this morning. Both the Colorado Springs Police and the Fountain Police are on accident report this morning. That means drivers involved in an accident where there’s no fatality or injury requiring medical attention, no driver involved is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, all drivers are present with a license, registration, and insurance information, and no damage to public property such as a street sign or utility pole has occurred, should exchange information and file an accident report online.

Conditions between the New Mexico state line and Pueblo are icy with snowpacked packed spots.

You’ll find plenty of ice and snowpack in most areas. Your own neighborhood may be the worst part of starting out the day. Here’s a look at conditions along I-25 between Fountain and Uintah.

CDOT crews worked on the 18-mile long “GAP Project” between Monument and Castle Rock throughout the night. There are plenty of icy spots on the highway and the speed limit has been lowered to 45 mph for safety reasons. Be cautious on bridges, ramps, and overpasses. If you’re headed into the Denver Metro area, conditions are a little bit better.

More snow is expected overnight Monday night, so be prepared for a slick drive again Tuesday morning.
