A special day Wednesday on Pikes Peak. It was the grand opening of the new summit house on top of America’s mountain. The 160 million dollar project razed the old building and replaced it with a modern 2 story structure that will greet more than 5 thousand tourists a day. Dignitaries at the event included Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers and Governor Jared Polis. There is still some work to complete on the summit which includes paving the parking lot. You can drive most of the way to the top. A shuttle will take you the final couple of miles.
