Heavy rain and snow Saturday

SATURDAY: We’re waking up to rain for lower elevations and wet, heavy snow for higher terrain areas. This morning and into the afternoon is when it looks like the brunt of this system passes through. Temps will hover in the 30s and 40s for most. Rain and snow will be heavy at times. Heavy accumulations of up to 10-20″ will be possible for Woodland Park. For Monument, Black Forest, 3-8″ looks more likely, with potentially some locally higher amounts. Folks in Palmer Lake may see more in line with 6-12″ of total accumulation. The rain will come down at a good clip in Colorado Springs, with 1-2″ of liquid rain possible, while mixing in with wet snow. We could see a few thunderstorms pop up to our east as early as about noon. Some of these could be strong to severe, and we can’t rule out possibly a weak tornado or two. We’ll see showers slow down into the evening.
