District 49 says no to reporting covid cases

In Falcon School District 49 officials say they will not report positive cases of Covid-19 by students and staff to the state health department. Earlier this month the district said they would not report single cases, citing guidelines from the Colorado Department of Health and Environment. Those guidelines say positive cases have to be reported only if schools and districts administer their own tests. Falcon 49 is not doing that. School officials say last year too many healthy people were over quarantined, and contact tracing only served to disrupt schools and classrooms. Wednesday Colorado Governor Jared Polis said all positive cases need to be reported. A number of parents in District 49 are not happy with the districts decision.
