A suspect is in custody this morning after he barricaded himself in a home in the Security-Widefield are for several hours on Sunday. Julian Espinoza, 36, was arrested on charges of assault. It satrted when a woman was stabbed in the area near Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. She was rushed to the hospital. El Paso County Deputies went to speak with Espinoza about the incident, but he barricade himself in a home in the 6800 Block of Defoe Ave. Officers tried to get Espinoza to come out, but he refused. Eventually, officers used tear gas and Espinoza surrendered. The woman who was stabbed was last reported in stable condition.
