Controversial Apartment Complex Approved By Colorado Springs Housing Committee

A NEW CONTROVERSIAL APARTMENT COMPLEX DEVELOPMENT HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE COLORADO SPRINGS PLANNING COMMITTEE. THE NEW ARROWEST APARTMENTS WOULD BE BUILT ON NORTH 30TH STREET AND GARDEN OF THE GOD ROADS. IT WOULD HAVE A TOTAL OF 222 UNITS. THE ORIGINAL PROPOSAL WAS SHUT DOWN BUY COLORADO SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL 3 YEARS AGO AND THE COLORADO COURT OF APPEALS LAST YEAR. CITY COUNCIL SAID THE BUILDING WOULD POSE A PUBLIC SAFETY RISK IN THE EVENT OF A WILD FIRE.  DURING YESTERDAYS MEETING COMMISSIONERS WHO VOTED IN FAVOR OF THE PROPOSAL SAID THERE IS A NEED FOR HOUSING IN THE AREA. CITY COUNCIL WILL TAKE A LOOK AT THIS, NEXT MONTH.
