The city of Colorado Springs announced a new initiative to try and help the homeless. Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade says the city is putting together a homelessness response team. When an issue comes up some 12 to 15 different city agencies have some role in dealing with homelessness. This new effort by the city will get those affected departments to work together to try and address issues. But the mayor also cautions they can only do so much if a person who is homeless doesn’t want help. The last “Point in Time” count of the homeless shows more than 14 hundred people are homeless in the area. That number is down 19% from 2025.
